Compassionate Ministries
JCNAZ has a variety of ministries designed to help people within the church and the local community.
Family Clothes & More meets the needs of families looking for clothing or other household items. FCM is open Mondays from 11:00am – 1:00pm, Thursdays from 4:30pm – 6:00pm and every other Saturday from 10:00 to Noon. Volunteers are needed to visit garage sales and purchase baby clothing and needed furniture items (can be reimbursed). Volunteers are also needed to sort, store, and distribute items as needed.
God’s Garden provides free food for those in need. Using the stand in the parking lot, free food items are placed there for any with a need. During the summer, gardeners are encouraged to bring excess from their harvest, and year-round, any type of food item is needed to provide a meal for the community.
Mid-America Foods provides a variety of discounted food packages for any family or individual in need of quality food for a low price. Orders will be taken on-line at www.midamericafoods.com or at the church on Wednesday evenings, from 5:45 to 8:00, Thursday afternoons from 1 to 3 and Friday mornings from 10 to Noon. Checks, money orders, cash and credit cards can be used for payment. No income requirements or community service hours needed.
Community of Hope provides a full meal for families in need at Easter and Thanksgiving. Individuals and families who wish to participate are given a grocery list and a bag to fill. There will be enough food in the bag to feed one large family two meals, or a small family with three or four meals.
Christmas Meal provides a free meal to all who come to the designated location on Christmas Day. Deliveries by the city to shut-ins are also available. Volunteers are needed to cook, shop, decorate, wrap gifts, donate food or money prior to the day and then serve in various positions on the 25th of December. Clean up is always a needed area.
Moving Help is provided for those who need assistence. Volunteers are needed to load and unload furniture and other large items.
Nacho Night & Sun, Fun and Hot Dog Bun Events are held at 5th Street Park and combine music, free food and many activities for children. Everything is free and open to all who desire to come. Volunteers are needed to oversee the different activities for at least an hour, setup and clean up, serve the food and visit with the attendees. Sun, Fun, and Hot Dog Bun (serving free hot dogs, chips, cookies, and drinks) is held the second Saturday in May and Nacho Night (serving nachos, cookies, and drinks) is held the second Saturday in September.
Benevolence Ministy provides funeral meals to the family and friends of the deceased or meals to someone recovering from a major physical problem.
