The Book of Matthew – Bible Study (continued)
Matthew (Levi) was one of Jesus’ 12 disciples. Once he was a despised tax collector, but his life
was changed when he encountered Jesus. Matthew wrote this Gospel to his fellow Jews to
prove that Jesus is the Messiah and to explain God’s kingdom. This Gospel forms the
connecting link between the Old and New Testaments because of its emphasis on the
fulfillment of prophecy. Matthew’s clear message is that Jesus is the Christ, the King of kings,
and Lord of lords. We hope through this study you will celebrate his victory over evil and death
and make Jesus the Lord of your life.

The Book of Mark – Bible Study
John Mark, the author, was not one of the 12 disciples, but he accompanied Paul on his first
missionary journey. Mark was probably the first Gospel written. The other Gospels quote all
but 31 verses of Mark. Mark records more miracles than does any other Gospel.
